Watch this
Dec. 4th, 2007 04:42 pmHow many watches do you have? I've got just the one: black strap, white face, Roman numerals, simple and understated. I know people who have two or three watches that they alternate depending on their mood and/or outfit. But I saw a jewellery catalogue the other day, which stated that "many" people had eight watches "one for each day of the week plus a spare". That seems like a lot, doesn't it?
I also saw an article about the release of a DVD of old episodes of Sesame Street. How cute would that be? I would be tempted to buy that because, honestly, the world needs more Guy Smiley. Anyway, the article went on to say that the DVD has an adults only rating. Crikey, I thought, what's that about then?
It turns out that the DVD is regarded as unsuitable for children because Oscar is grouchy and the Cookie Monster eats cookies. What? I know that poor Cookie has had to say "cookies are a sometimes food" for a while now, but isn't this a bit silly? Wasn't the point of the Cookie Monster that he scarfed down all the cookies as a lesson that the rest of us shouldn't? The article claims that this is because of "political correctness" but I don't agree. I would have said it was important to teach young children that there are grouchy people and greedy people in the world.
Then again, I don't have young children of my own to worry about. Parents of the f-list, what do you think. Is Oscar too mean? Is Cookie a bad example?
