Buttered popcorn

Somewhere among these photos -- number 27, to be precise -- is a baby pygmy hippo that is so cute it made me gasp. It's not much bigger than a lettuce! (There is also a photo of two pugs dressed as flowers, who are clearly aware of how stupid they look.)

I was tossing some kitchen scraps in my worm farm yesterday when I heard a hurried scrabble of claws on the tiles and, turning, was nearly knocked over by a bouncy little dog jumping at me with joy: next door's Chester, who is not normally allowed out of their garden. I caught him and carried him home. 'He loves you,' observed one of the teenaged Next Doors, watching Chester jumping up and down excitedly next to me. This is true. It's because I look after him when they're on holiday. Either that or I'm a dog whisperer.

Anyway, a few months ago, my colleague Angela was attempting to think of potato chip flavours for a competition. I don't know what she eventually came up with, but she didn't win. The four winning flavours are out now, apparently, and the Next Doors were trying one of them: buttered popcorn chips. That sounds horrible, I know, but they didn't taste (or smell) anything like buttered popcorn and, I have to say, I didn't mind them. Subsequent investigation reveals that the other three flavours are Caesar salad, barbecue coat-of-arms (that would be kangaroo and emu) and kebab. Caesar salad chips sound interesting.
