Are diamonds mined in mid-ocean?
I managed to hit the fence while backing out the driveway this morning. I used to be able to line up a particular fence post in my rear vision mirror and go straight back, but the new car — Varys, as in Varys the Yaris — is a little wider than the old one and I haven't established the right fence post yet. This morning I went slightly awry and managed to bump the fence with the passenger-side mirror. No damage, other than to my dignity.
Home again at the end of the day, I came in to find my mother sitting on the sofa, reading, with Alistair on her knee. I love this. She is delighted that she has finally won him over and he looks so embarrassed. Like, "I really wanted a knee to sit on and this was the only one available".
Walking down the street today, I had to step around a man on his phone having this conversation:
Man on phone: All right, my darling, have a beautiful trip. [Minuscule pause.] Soup.
