Empire redux
Jul. 14th, 2006 02:19 pmSeen yesterday: Pirates of the Caribbean. It's very Empire Strikes Back, isn't it? (Perhaps we can look forward to a trilogy of prequels about the early life of Bootstrap Bill in twenty years.) The three of us were the only ones to stay all the way through to the scene at the end; we stood at the top of the steps waiting through all the grips and gaffers and assistants to Mr Bruckheimer while the cinema manager and usher cleaned around us, clearly wanting us to go. It was their fault though; we asked on the way out if there was a bit at the end like the first one and they said there was. They could have lied and we would have gone away not knowing the difference.
Seen today: a man cycling down the main street wearing his very own maillot à pois. He's a long way from the Tour de France. Or, indeed, any sort of mountain at all (I don't think the Japan Street hill counts).
