Pity party

On Tuesday I called to make an appointment with the hairdresser. I normally have to wait a couple of weeks to get in, so I was surprised when the girl said I could get an appointment on Thursday. I thought perhaps I'd stumbled into a cancellation. In hindsight, I now remember they usually take a contact number too, but didn't in this case. The full conversation ( went something like this: )
