Awardless, again
Sep. 10th, 2010 07:10 pmApparently my old school has started having an annual ceremony to give special awards to successful and inspirational past pupils. I didn't hear about this when they contacted me to tell me I'd won, because, astonishingly, I have been passed over. Honestly, it's the Australian of the Year awards all over again. No, I saw an advertisement for the function, which listed the recipients of this year's awards, all of them people who have actually achieved something with their lives and one of them someone I went to school with. It turns out she is now a nun teaching in East Timor. So that was unexpected, and quite cool. She does deserve it ahead of me.
You know when you start to tidy something up and halfway through you've actually got more mess than when you started? That's where I am today. Looking at the assorted piles of paper on my bed is quite disheartening.
