Today at work we had a visit from a kitten. One of our casual employees had to come in for an hour and she had just taken her kitten to the vet for its vaccinations, so he came too. We didn't have a bowl to give him some water, so he had to drink out of a tea cup instead, which was just too delightful for words. You hear about those offices that have visiting masseurs or whatever as a morale boost for staff. That doesn't hold any appeal for me, but baby animal visits? There's a staff perk I could get behind.

Also, a man from a bank came to see me. We met in the boardroom, but he had a document he wanted me to read at my leisure, so he gave me his USB stick to take back to my computer and save. Alone in my office, looking at the stick, I saw a single file, which was carefully labelled for my attention, and three folders, which were none of my business. The folders were named Home Stuff, Office Stuff and Big Scary Stuff. I was dying to know what he keeps in that last one, but I didn't even click it. Wasn't I strong?

Out for my walk at lunch time, I stopped at the greengrocer to get some fruit. Bananas that used to cost $3.98 per kilogram are $12.98/kg since the floods and cyclones that hit the tropical banana-growing regions this summer. But the colder weather is here now so, happy days, mandarins are here again. I had my first mandarin of the season for lunch. The first of many.

Also I passed a bookshop that had an interesting looking book in the window. I was in a hurry so I thought I'd look it up on Amazon and if it sounded okay, I'd return to the shop and buy it. Back at work, all of three minutes later, all I could remember was that it had a dark blue cover. That's not really much to go on, is it?
