Hello, f-list. I thought I had better write something or else it would be time for my monthly book post with almost nothing since the last one.

Things are stupidly busy, as my absence might suggest. At work we have finally got the tender documents to put in for the government to decide our future, for which we are creating a new company out of the remnants of four old ones, and we have until 10 July to do it. I am meant to be on leave this week, but, thanks government!, had to move that back to August. Next week is the end of financial year, or EOFY as those of us in the know call it, which is a busy time of year for me at the best of times. Anyway, it will soon be over. Then the wait for the answer begins.

The real pity is that I can't talk about our new company because, dearie me, doing this really brings out the worst in people. "One day," says my boss on a regular basis, "we will write a book." Until then, just know that it's hard out here for a pimp government-funded not-for-profit vocational training organisation.

I had a note here to tell you about an experience at the Woolworths' self-checkout, but that was from two weeks ago and I can't remember the finer details. Just that I put money in to pay and it was supposed to give me change but instead said I needed to pay again and it ended with two Woolworths' employees arguing with each other about how much change to give me. So that was fun.

Also, Melbourne Zoo has a new baby pygmy hippo.
