Love in the Highlands
Jan. 8th, 2016 10:21 pmAbout a month ago, maybe more, a little white bump appeared on my middle finger, just under the nail. It stayed small until a week or so before Christmas, when it blew up. It popped on Boxing Day, with a surprising amount of pus for such a small space. That's the end of that, I thought, and didn't even bother mentioning it here. Only that wasn't the end of that as it has grown larger and redder and hotter again over the last couple of weeks and, long story short, I am now on antibiotics for it. And if they don't work by next week I have to go and get it drained. Happy New Year!
As well as going to the doctor, today I went to my great-aunt's funeral. Not the one I went to visit the other day; another one. "She must have suspected something," said her daughter today. "She fell asleep in front of the telly a few weeks ago, and when she woke up she said, 'Who will inherit my thermoses?'" It's good to get the important things sorted out.
