A quiet Saturday. A bit of cleaning, a bit of gardening, a bit of just general pottering about.

I got a LinkedIn email to tell me that one of my old colleagues had posted something, so I had a look at that. It was an article about cultivating a positive mindset by spending one minute looking for something positive three times a day. That is generally not my sort of thing at all, but, hey, I've got another fifteen days of daily entries to write, so, yes, look out for that at some point.

But! That's not what I took away from reading his page. Under that was his previous entry, which was a link to a job advertisement on my old work's website. For my old job! And you will be proud of me, f-list: I did not entertain the idea of applying for it, not even for a second. (I did briefly entertain the idea of emailing Jenny to ask for the goss, though.)

On a related note, there was an article on the ABC website this week about change management in organisations. Specifically, about a researcher who studied some government-enforced changes in the public sector, and how he found that management using humour to talk about the situation didn't always help the workforce come to terms with change. Which makes sense, I think. The interesting bit for me was the idea of a "psychological breach of contract", being the feeling that you signed up for a particular job and workplace, only to have it changed. Which is not only a very good description of what happened to everyone at Old Job, but might also be something to watch out for at New Job.
