Are scythes always swung by swarthy men?
Jul. 12th, 2019 03:32 pmSomeone at work has grandchildren staying for the school holiday, and someone else brought in some of her (now grown) children's toys for them to play with. That led the first person to reminisce about a doll she had when she was growing up in the 1960s, which could change the length of its hair by pushing on its belly.
Fifteen years later, I didn't have a hair-growing doll, but I did have a cowgirl Barbie with hair like Farrah Fawcett. The real attraction to horse-obsessed little me was her palomino horse, but she had another interesting feature. Instead of painted eyes like other Barbies, she had separate eyelids and when you pressed a button on her back, one of them winked, revealing quite a lot of blue eyeshadow. Sadly, the eye often got stuck in the wink position, giving her a permanent rictus.
