My sunflowers are looking a bit sad, a bit past it, a bit, as they say, cactus, so today at work I asked Angela if her chooks would like the seeds. Why, yes, they would. Brian, overhearing this, asked if they were yellow sunflowers and if they were, could he have some in exchange for some of his black sunflower seeds? I misunderstood and said that my sunflower seeds are black too, and he said, no, it's the sunflowers that are black, not the seeds, but they're black in the reddish-purple sense. So not black at all then. Anyway, I said I'd bring the seeds in and they could sort it out between themselves.
This is a nice time of year for this sort of thing. People who grow their own vegetables have reached the point where they can't face another of whatever it is they're growing and just want to get rid of them. I'm getting a bit like that with beans.
