Does it make me sound too pathetic to say I realised one of my life's ambitions today by buying a date stamp? One of those ones that have rubber loops of numbers that can be pushed around to get the current date. At the risk of really sounding too pathetic, I won't say how much time I wasted stamping the date onto things - not even today's date. Yes, I'm that wild. And I'm all set until 30 DEC 2012, stamp-wise.
You would think that a book called Rescue Ferrets at Sea would be funny, wouldn't you? Or slightly amusing. Or at least aware of how silly the subject is... Alas, Rescue Ferrets at Sea by Richard Bach is not a funny book. For something that seems to be for children, it's downright hard going. I only chose it because of the title, and because there was an encoded message on the acknowledgement page. I didn't realise until I started that it was by the man who gave us Jonathon Livingstone Seagull. Still, I got to solve a code, so I can't complain too much.

Odd things I have seen so far this week:
- three boats pulled up at a service station (alright, they were on the back of a trailer, but they looked like they'd just sailed in by themselves);
- a man on a motorbike, wearing a helmet, so that his parka hood filled out behind him like he had two heads; and
- stick-on hoof-prints in the bakery, arranged in neat pairs to look like a horse had stood on its hind legs and jumped to the counter.
