My mother's friend Val came round today, and was telling my mother about her grandson going to paintball.
Val: He's really into violent games now, bash 'em, smash 'em things. Paintball.
My mother: And all that eye-gouging.
So if they ever invite you, don't go paintballing with Val and my mother. You will not come back alive.
This week's knitting photo:

That is not the cardigan. Last time, you may recall, I had to unknit a row. Before continuing, I counted the stitches to make sure I had the correct number. I started the row again. This time, I stopped after the first repeat of the pattern and counted again and I was two stitches out. I undid that little section, and tried again. Two stitches out. I did what I should have done earlier, and counted the stitches in the pattern. It says it's a thirteen-stitch, six-row repeat, but in the odd rows it ends up as fifteen stitches. Grrrr. Also, there are ten stitches between the repeats, which it says in the first row, but doesn't mention in the subsequent rows. So I wrote out what I think the repeating pattern should be and dug out some scrap wool to knit up a small sample. And that's what I've been working on this week.
