A Road to Romance

Merry Christmas if that is your bag, f-list, and I hope you are having a lovely day if it is not. We have just had Christmas lunch, and are having a quiet moment before tackling the pavlova.
Here is the joke from my bonbon (or what you may call a cracker):
What do you call an angry kangaroo?
Hopping mad!
There is no knitting photo this week, so instead here is a selection from today. I thought last night I should take the camera on my morning walk on the beach to give you all some festive sunshine and glitter, but it turns out we had a white Christmas, if fog counts as white.

A view of the breakwater in the fog.

Horses and boats near the breakwater.
The fog has burnt off now, and we've got blue sky, yellow sun and a cool sea breeze, 28C. Pretty much perfect Christmas weather: cool enough to roast our turkey breast and vegetables, saving the cold seafood platter for a light dinner when everything has been warmed by the afternoon sun.

I made this year's pavlova yesterday. This year I went all fancy and marbled the top. And then I covered it with cream and berries, so there doesn't seem to be a lot of point to the marbling, although it's very pretty.

This year I treated myself to a Lego Advent calendar. Here is the last piece, Santa, holding his festive mug of flat white. I'm not sure why the Lego man running the coffee and cake stall (behind Santa) is wearing a protective helmet and oxygen tanks. That wouldn't fill me with confidence in the product.

You can't see him properly in the wide shot, but Santa's sleigh is drawn by a Lego husky.
