Rome: apparently not built in a day

I have a sore clicking finger, which is annoying, but I only have myself to blame. I have been wasting scandalous amounts of time playing a game called Cradle of Rome. You may be surprised to know that the Roman Empire was built by matching groups of three tiles; I know I was. It was all fine and dandy until I became a Senator, when the games became fiendishly hard. I fly along until about game 68 (yes, 68 games, some of them multiple times: that's how much time I've wasted), and can't get any further. I had eight lives last time I reached it and lost them all and got bumped back to the start of the Senator level (game 54) to try again. I'll never get to be Emperor at this rate!
Oh, and it has the most annoying catchy music; even when I'm not playing, my brain is happily singing 'doo-do-do-doo-do-doo-do-doo-do', which is driving me mad.
Reading the above paragraphs back, I think I really need to find something else to do with my two extra days off each week. Any suggestions?
In a depressing glimpse into my future, my mother is going to have a suspicious skin thing cut out of her neck today. The actual cutting out part should be fine (it's being done by her GP in his consulting room), but fingers crossed that the thing itself doesn't turn out to be nasty. Her father had all sorts of growths cut off his skin and my mother has already had one skin cancer removed too. I'm reasonably diligent about hats and sunscreen and staying in the shade, so I might avoid trouble in the future, but our skin was made for a completely different climate.
