I mentioned MasterChef Australia's cupcake (Johnny cake!) challenge the other day, and how many of the cheftestants didn't like cake. (There's a word for people like that, and that word is 'freak'.) Anyway, the MasterChef week ends with a master class given by two of the judges who are actual chefs, in which they recreate the week's challenges to show how they would have done them. And their version of the cupcake challenge was... deconstructional.
They made their cake, right, a lemon flavoured one, but nothing out of the ordinary. Then to serve it, they drizzled lemon syrup over a plate, dobbed some lemon curd and lemon cream about, then crumbled the cake over it. Like so. I... I'd be disappointed if I ordered cake in a restaurant and got that. I like the plate, though.
