My Intangible Emphasis
Dec. 14th, 2010 09:43 amThe black cat that sleeps in my garden generally ignores me, but yesterday I noticed it watching me while I watered my new ginger plant, so I talked to it while carefully not looking in its direction. After a while I peeked and it miaowed at me, which I took to be an invitation to sit down and scratch its head. It liked that: it rolled around and let me scratch its tummy and then clambered onto my knee and curled up, purring. We sat there for a while, then when I got up it followed me over to the house and gazed at me through the kitchen window until I gave it some of the chicken I was having for dinner. I think I've made a new friend. 'Friend' in the 'if you give me food' sense.
Also: I have a new ginger plant. I forgot I had a piece of ginger in the spice drawer and when I found it last week, it had sprouted. So I've planted it to see what happens. It will take about ten months, apparently, so that's something to look forward to.
That sounds about right.
