There is a 100 question meme going round, which I have enjoyed, particularly [livejournal.com profile] mockduck's, because she cleverly thought of breaking it into manageable chunks for easier answering and reading. I decided to do that too. So there's something for everyone to look forward to.

100 question meme, part I

1. How old will you be in five years?
I have a couple of irritating colleagues who keep asking my age and other birthday-related queries, and I have been fobbing them off by saying that I am 212 and have no star sign. So I suppose in five years, I will be 217. Unless I become one of those people who say they're the same age for years and years. I'll be 212 forever.

Or 44. One of them.

2. Who did you spend at least two hours with today?
My work colleagues. Most particularly, Tim the Quality Assurance Guy, because we share an office.

3. How tall are you?
1.62m. This is below average, and yet I tower over my female colleagues. Perhaps my boss has an unofficial short people preference hiring policy.

4. What do you look forward to most in the next six weeks?
My work's annual audit being over.

5. What's the last movie you saw?
At the cinema, it was The Hobbit: The One with the Dragon a couple of weeks ago, which was, shall we say, an excellent example of the law of diminishing marginal utility. At home (on DVD) it was the Joss Whedon version of Much Ado About Nothing, which was pretty good.

6. Who was the last person you called?
The practice manager at a medical clinic in South Australia, to sort out her subsidy payment for hosting a junior doctor.

7. Who was the last person to call you?
A junior doctor, to find out if he could be reimbursed for doing a short course.

8. What was the last text message you received?
It was probably from Telstra with some sort suggestion to change plans. I don't really text.

9. Who was the last person to leave you a voice mail?
My mother, telling me to water the vegetable seedlings she's growing in my greenhouse.

10. Do you prefer to call or text?
Email.

11. What were you doing at 12am last night?
12am would be this morning, surely? At any rate, I was thinking I really should try to get to bed earlier on a work night.

12. Are your parents married/divorced?
Neither.

13. When did you last see your mum?
On Sunday, at the Australia Day street barbecue that she and her neighbours organised.

14. What color are your eyes?
I want to say I have cerulean orbs, but they're not that blue. Spheres like storm clouds?

Sort of blueish-grey, in other words.

15. What time did you wake up today?
At 3:00am, then at 6:00, then at 6:38 just before the alarm went off. Normally I have trouble getting to sleep, but once I do, I sleep until the alarm; it was so hot, I was right out of my normal pattern.

16. What are you wearing right now?
Three-quarter length jeans with turned-up cuffs and one of these tops in purple (I like these shirts; I have five of them, in various colours, although I'm not keen on this year's options). I am writing this at breakfast, having just been out filling the birdbaths for the day; soon I'll have to go and change into work clothes.

17. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I'm quite partial to 'Good King Wenceslas' and 'O Holy Night', but probably 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'.

18. Where is your favorite place to be?
I quite like sitting on the lawn under the magnolia tree, reading, and also being on the beach just before dawn.

19. Where is your least favorite place to be?
In a crowd.

20. Where would you go if you could go anywhere?
The moon.

21. Where do you think you’ll be in 10 years?
I hate this question in job interviews and I don't like it much more here. I don't know.

22. Do you tan or burn?
I burn like a large piece of bacon, then I freckle. My skin is designed for higher latitudes.

23. What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child?
The shark that lived in the shaded side of our pool. The suitcases stored on top of the wardrobe that made the silhouette of a face at night. The evil Pierrot doll. Kidnappers. Fire. Everything, basically.

24. What was the last thing that really made you laugh?
My mother's friend, Jan, dismantling the questions asked by the quizmaster (her husband) during a lateral thinking board game.

25. How many TVs do you have in your house?
I was going to say one, but it's two. The one I watch, which is in the living room, and a small one that's not plugged in, which is on a shelf in the dining room.
