Good or Bad?

I passed our local Member of Parliament's office at lunch time, or rather I crossed the road to avoid it as there was a protest happening outside it. I say protest, I mean about ten people, one of whom was playing a guitar and singing, seriously, "Blowin' in the wind". I don't know what they were protesting, but I'm guessing it's not going to be successful.
One other time I walked past that office, the Member himself was standing out the front, explaining to two young boys how to get to Target. How's that for service to his future constituents! (Now I think about it, I suppose they could have been his own children and not just two passing urchins who popped in with a question.)
The last week or so, roadworks have sprung up all over the middle of town. Simultaneously! You turn down one street to avoid a delay, only to find another one next block on. Today, I parked on the street I usually do, then came back at the end of the day to find the roadworks had appeared there in the intervening hours. The was a worker on the corner, directing traffic. "Is that you parked across the road? You can squeeze through between the diggers," he said, and waved me on my way.
I couldn't squeeze between the diggers, even with my little car. There was a group of workers standing around chatting, so I asked them how I could get out. "You can drive down the new surface," said one, pointing at the new surface, which would have been fine except it was a good ten centimetres lower than the rest of the road with a sharp drop down.
"She can't do that drop in that little car," said the next one. "You'll have to reverse far enough back to turn, then go round the corner." So they stopped the traffic that was coming through the single lane long enough for me to reverse, do a three-point turn and drive on the wrong lane until I got to the corner. Worker #1 gave me a thumbs up, then went to talk to the next pedestrian who clearly had the same predicament.
Then I drove home, delayed by two more sets of roadworks on the way.
